Dear Parents and Guardians,
The Montello School District is proud to work alongside our families to help our kids be their best! This is one of the reasons why we work with the community to maintain a food pantry at school and provide a bag or pack of food choices to assist our students through weekends and holiday breaks as needed. We call this Operation Backpack, and we are here to help.
If your student and/or family is in need of food support, please let us know! Operation Backpack will supply some simple food options on the last day of the school week, usually on a Friday. The bag or pack will be delivered to your student’s classroom for the child to take home and use. The bags or packs will be sent to the same family each week. This program is open to all students and families; there are no limitations.
If you have donations to stock our shelves for Operation Backpack it would be greatly appreciated. These can be dropped off at the district office during summer office hours or at the Thrivent Booth at the Marquette County Fair. The items we need the most are: Applesauce, Canned Fruit, Canned soup or stew, Pasta Sauce. Canned Pasta like Ravioli or Spaghetti-o's, Rice, Boxed or bagged dishes like Suddenly Salad, Rice-a-Roni, Pasta Sides or mac-n-cheese, Peanut Butter.
If you have any questions about Operation Backpack, please contact the elementary school district office csmith@montelloschools.org or by calling 608-297-2128
Sincerely,
Montello Schools Staff
